Juice Carton Pig Box

Kids can make their own pig box out of an old juice carton. This recycled craft can be used to keep small coins or keepsakes in, just undo the nose lid to open! You could try making different types of farmyard animals with the same idea.

Kids can make their own pig box out of an old juice carton. This recycled craft can be used to keep small coins or keepsakes in, just undo the nose lid to open! You could try making different types of farmyard animals with the same idea.

To make this pig box you will need:

Juice carton (with a round lid)

Scissors

Paintbrush

Black felt tip pen

Step 1Measure approximately 5cm down from the bend in the top of the juice carton (just underneath the lid) and mark with a pen. Then carefully cut around the carton with the scissors so you are left with the top.

Step 2Take the other end of the juice carton and measure about 4cm up from the bottom and cut. Then cut a slit down each corner leaving four flaps. Cut a small section off of the side edge of each flap, as shown in the image above.

Step 3Cut two ears into the top of the juice carton, and then take the lid off. Cover both the lid and the carton in light pink paint and leave to dry. Depending on the colour of your juice carton it may need a few more coats of paint.

Step 4Once the paint has dried completely, add two googly eyes to the carton either side of the nose. Then push the top of the carton onto the bottom (that you cut earlier) folding in the corners to help it fit inside. You can now use your pig box t…
