Feb 14 Feb 14 Sponge Cake Craft Rachel - Doodle and Stitch kids craft, recycled Kids can make their own toy cakes out of sponges! This cake craft is fun to do and can be used afterwards when playing. To make this DIY sponge cake you will need: Kitchen spongesGluePom poms Paint (white, red/pink)Paint brushScissors Step 1Cut the sponges into triangles to create the cake slice shape. Start cutting from the corner towards the centre of the opposite edge of the sponge. Try to make all three sponges as similar in shape and size as possible. Step 2Using the PVA glue, stick the three sponges together. I layered mine so that there is a pink sponge in between two yellow sponges - so it looks like a vanilla and strawberry cake! Wait for the glue to dry. Step 3Mix the white and red/pink paint together to create a light pink shade - this will be the icing for the cake. Paint it on as thickly as possible on the areas between the layers of sponge, on top of the cake and down the back. Repeat with another coat of paint if necessary. Leave to dry. Step 4Stick some pom poms on top of the cake craft to decorate it using PVA glue. Use a red pom pom to put a cherry on top!Subscribe to my newsletter to receive fun craft ideas, offers and freebies! Please note: this blog post contains affiliate links, however all opinions are my own and I only link to products that I personally use and recommend.
