Cut a small section from the pack of air dry clay and roll flat using the rolling pin (so it is approximately 2mm thick). Use the craft knife to cut the clay into the shape of a feather. Then cut some small triangular shapes out of the side of the feather, these can be random and don't have to be too neat.
Use the craft knife to draw a line down the centre of the feather. Be careful not to press too hard as you don't want to cut right through the clay! Then use the knife to draw lots of small lines going from the centre line outwards toward the edge of the feather. This will create the feather like texture. Then use the craft knife to carefully make a small hole at the bottom of the feather - this will be for the necklace chain.
Leave the clay to dry (as the feathers are very thin the clay should only take a few hours to dry, however you may have to leave it overnight.)
Once the clay is dry, cover the feathers in gold paint. Try not to paint it on too thickly as you don't want to lose the texture of the feather. Paint another coat if necessary and leave to dry. Finally, add your gold chain through the hole and your necklace is complete!
