This DIY pin cushion jar is a fun and useful craft. You can store your thread, buttons etc in the jar and keep your needles and pins in the cushion on top! This is a simple craft to make with material left overs or fat quarters, you could even make a few and give them away as gifts!
To make this pin cushion jar you will need:
Needle
Scissors
Step 1
Cut the material into a circle (the size of this will depend on the size of the lid of your jar. The lid of the jar I used was about 5cm diameter and the size of the circle I cut was about 15cm diameter. If you are using a normal sized jar make sure you cut the circle a bit bigger.
Then stitch around the circle with the thread, just a loose stitch is fine, and it doesn't have to be neat!
Step 2
Pull the end of the thread tightly so that the material pulls together to form a ball as shown in the photo above. This will form the shape of your pin cushion. Then, fill the material with stuffing and stitch up together to close the hole.
Step 3
Use the glue gun to put quite a bit of glue on the lid of the jar, then stick the pin cushion to the lid. Once the glue is dry the pin cushion jar is ready to use!
