This DIY pin cushion jar is a fun and useful craft. You can store your thread, buttons etc in the jar and keep your needles and pins in the cushion on top! This is a simple craft to make with material left overs or fat quarters, you could even make a few and give them away as gifts!

To make this pin cushion jar you will need:

Step 1Cut the material into a circle (the size of this will depend on the size of the lid of your jar. The lid of the jar I used was about 5cm diameter and the size of the circle I cut was about 15cm diameter. If you are using a normal sized jar mak…

Cut the material into a circle (the size of this will depend on the size of the lid of your jar. The lid of the jar I used was about 5cm diameter and the size of the circle I cut was about 15cm diameter. If you are using a normal sized jar make sure you cut the circle a bit bigger.

Then stitch around the circle with the thread, just a loose stitch is fine, and it doesn't have to be neat!

Step 2Pull the end of the thread tightly so that the material pulls together to form a ball as shown in the photo above. This will form the shape of your pin cushion. Then, fill the material with stuffing and stitch up together to close the hole.
